Alternative Images

The Alternate Images SIG's goal is to build and provide alternate images for CentOS Stream.

Conference Presentations

Quarterly Update

Features Added

  • CentOS Stream 10 KDE and MAX Live image change: The installer no longer asks you for root or user information. Instead plasma-setup will have you setup root and/or user information on first boot.
  • CentOS Stream 10 KDE and MAX Live image change: The graphical login for KDE and MAX is also plasma-login instead of sddm. But most users should not see any difference.

Documentation

Artwork SIG

The CentOS Artwork SIG produces the CentOS Project Visual Identity.

  • Strategy: Monolithic — one name and one visual identity across all visual manifestations.
  • Cadence: The visual identity is refreshed with each new CentOS Stream release.
  • Vision: The visual identity system takes CentOS Brand and CentOS Motif as inputs; each visual manifestation project pins to a tagged release of each and automatically updates its own presentation files when the pinned version is bumped.

On Branding

Corrected dark shade hex values in the Color Palette artifact.

On Website

The jekyll-l10n, jekyll-link-decoration, and jekyll-minify plugins have been integrated into the jekyll-theme-centos staging branch.

New Features

  • Sponsors: Added carousel and card display modes, giving editors flexible layout options for sponsor logos without writing custom HTML.

  • Heading anchor: Added a click-to-copy anchor link beside headings, allowing readers to share direct links to any section of a page.

  • FontAwesome: Switched the default loading method from SVG+JS to CSS, improving page load performance and fixing copy-button behavior under DataTables pagination.

  • OGP: Added og:site_name and og:logo meta tags, so social media link previews display the site name and logo instead of a bare URL.

    image

  • Link: Added Bootstrap tooltip and popover support, enabling inline contextual help without leaving the page.

  • Breadcrumb: Made locale-aware by deriving URLs from locale data, ensuring breadcrumb links remain correct across translated pages.

  • Footer: Extracted into a standalone reusable include from the default layout, and restructured as a responsive three-column grid enclosing the brand section, shortcut navigation, locale and social row, sponsors carousel, and copyright notice — making it reusable across layouts and easier to maintain.

Visual Fixes

  • Heading anchor icon: Changed from fa-link to fa-hashtag and repositioned to the left of the heading text, making the anchor more recognisable and easier to click.

  • Announcement: Set the bullhorn as the default icon and vertically centred it with the content, improving visual alignment out of the box.

  • Navindex: Replaced status icons with toggle icons and switched the internal badge to fa-toggle-on/fa-toggle-off, clarifying component state at a glance.

Architecture

  • Head, navbar, footer, and scripts reclassified as components: These structural page sections were migrated from raw includes to the component type, enabling them to participate in the three-tier schema resolution model and receive consistent configuration through page, site, and schema defaults.

Reliability

  • JavaScript wrapped in IIFEs with CDN guard checks: All component scripts are enclosed in immediately invoked function expressions with explicit checks for CDN-loaded libraries, preventing global variable leaks and silent failures when external libraries are unavailable.

On Motif

Began exploring Blender lighting, shading, and composition using the base concept (Aperiodic Tiling) proposed for CentOS 11.
