CentOS is excited to welcome Jack Aboutboul to the Board of Directors.
The CentOS Board is made up of 10 members, nominated by the community and appointed by a vote of the board. Josh Boyer stepped down earlier this year, so the board began the process of selecting a new director. We'd like to thank Josh for his many years of experience and insights.
With over 20 years of experience in the Linux, Open Source, and Free Software communities, Jack is well-known for his dedication to technology, community, and developer advocacy.
Jack’s journey in open-source leadership began as an integral member of the original Fedora team, where he played a key role in driving Fedora’s rapid growth and widespread adoption. Recently, he has been actively engaged in the CentOS community, dedicating efforts to broaden contributions across the ecosystem through the Special Interest Groups (SIGs). Jack has also made significant contributions to AlmaLinux, shaping its direction and fostering growth.
In his current role within Microsoft’s Linux Platforms Group, Jack focuses on Linux Distribution enablement and engineering engagement on Azure, where Linux now accounts for over 60% of cores in operation. He also upholds Microsoft’s commitment to open source, serving as a key advocate and steward of these values.
Jack’s extensive experience in open source, his expertise in community building, and his deep understanding of the ecosystem make him a valuable addition to the CentOS Board. We look forward to his voice on the board, where he will continue to advocate for and support the health and growth of our vibrant community.
