- The Board approved the creation of the Accelerated Infrastructure Enablement SIG. More information is in the SIG reports below.
- The RDO project has recently announced a move from RPMs to releasing Source 2 Image releases in the future due to a lack of resources. Several members of the community have volunteered to possibly continue packaging RPMs for RDO.
- Fabian announced that draft builds and sidetags are now available for SIGs to use on CBS.
- The videos from CentOS Connect are now available online.
- We will hold a CentOS Showcase on April 20. This is our half-day virtual event. The CFP is open until April 6.
Accelerated Infrastructure Enablement SIG
The Accelerated Infrastructure Enablement (AIE) SIG is engineered as the high-velocity development path bridging rapid hardware innovation with the stable, community-driven foundation of the CentOS Stream ecosystem. Beginning its development on CentOS Stream 10, the AIe SIG provides a "fast lane" for integrating "in-flight" upstream patches and contributions, particularly from partners like NVIDIA. This allows the community to ingest and validate new code the moment it is publicly available—often months before full upstream acceptance—which is critical for matching the rapid development cadence of next-generation hardware.
- The Accelerated Infrastructure SIG was established
- The doc page for the SIG was created - https://sigs.centos.org/aie/
- The source branches for the 3 packages, which are currently being worked on by the SIG, were created:
- SIG contributors have started contributing code, and the build infrastructures was created.
- The SIG now produces new builds regularly. New builds can be found here: https://kojihub.stream.centos.<wbr>org/koji/search?match=glob&<wbr>type=build&terms=*el10nv
- A public CS repo is being created for the latest stable builds of the 3 packages (expected to be ready soon)
Messaging SIG
The Messaging SIG provides packages for messaging-related infrastructure, currently focused on delivering a complete RabbitMQ 4 stack for CentOS Stream 9 and 10.
- The Messaging SIG has been restarted after a period of inactivity. Peter Lemenkov and Luca Miccini are leading the effort to bring the SIG back to life with a fresh RabbitMQ 4 stack.
- A complete RabbitMQ 4 stack has been built and released for both CentOS Stream 9 and CentOS Stream 10, including wxGTK, Erlang/OTP, Elixir, and RabbitMQ Server.
- Package centos-release-messaging has been built and tagged to extras for both Stream 9 and Stream 10, making the SIG repository easily discoverable via
dnf install centos-release-rabbitmq-4. - Package rabbitmq-server has been updated to version 4.2.4.
- Package erlang has been updated to version 26.2.5.17 (OTP 26).
- Package elixir version 1.19.5 is now available.
- Package wxGTK version 3.2.8 is provided as a dependency for Erlang's graphical tools.
Automotive SIG
The Automotive SIG provides a center of gravity for CentOS automotive projects. The SIG produces three types of artifacts:
- AutoSD, a distribution of CentOS designed for in-vehicle automotive use cases.
- An Automotive SIG RPM repository that allows the community to expand the content of AutoSD or experiment with some of its parts.
- Sample images, built using AIB (bootc under the hood), which provide examples of how to assemble production images based on AutoSD, customized for some hardware, including container images.
Some of the major activities since the last report include:
- Automotive Image Builder is now using bootc to build its images
- AutoSD is listed as a supported Eclipse S-CORE (an OSS automotive middleware stack) operating system/platform
- Openshift Operator to run the required infrastructure to build AutoSD images in Openshift
- Upstream kernel clock subsystem patches: https://lore.kernel.org/linux-clk/aUSWU7UymULCXOeF@redhat.com/
- SELinux policy generation tool: https://gitlab.com/CentOS/automotive/src/selcraft
- Sysboot: systemd drop-ins can be used to define system boot checks, which trigger a reboot on failure, see demo
- Documentation page that explains and compare package and image modes: https://sig.centos.org/automotive/latest/features-and-concepts/con_image-based-operating-systems.html
Virt SIG
The Virt SIG provides virtualization and oVirt packages for CentOS.
- After a lot of work, oVirt 4.5.7 was released. Full release notes can be found on https://ovirt.org/release/4.5.7/
- oVirt 4.5.7 is now also supported/build for CentOS 10 and RHEL 10!
- We package virt-v2v with oVirt support included for CentOS 10. This as oVirt support in virt-v2v was dropped in CentOS 10 / RHEL 10.
- Next to CentOS 10 builds for ovirt45, we also started a ovirt45 repository with RHEL 10 buildroot. This to resolve some compatibility/dependency issues when building on CentOS 10 for RHEL 10 (and clones).
Storage SIG
The CentOS Storage Special Interest Group (SIG) is a collection of like-minded individuals coming together to ensure that CentOS is a suitable platform for many different storage solutions. This group will ensure that all Open Source storage options seeking to utilize CentOS as a delivery platform have a voice in packaging, orchestration, deployment, and related work.
Stream 9 and Stream 10 packages in the Storage SIG:
- Ceph Reef (18) updated to 18.2.8. This is the last update for Reef.
- Ceph Squid (19) updated to 19.2.3.
- Ceph Tentacle (20) released. 20.2.0 is the latest.
- NFS-Ganesha 9 released. 9.9 is the latest release. Ganesha 8 and earlier are no longer supported.
- Samba …
- GlusterFS is on life support. 11.2 is the latest release.
All packages use EPEL9 and EPEL10 for dependencies.
Artwork SIG
The CentOS Artwork SIG exists to produce The CentOS Project Visual Identity.
-
On Branding: The CentOS Colors are now consolidated and published along with a palette of colors. Contributors are encouraged to use this palette in their artworks.
-
On Website: The jekyll-theme-centos is integrating the jekyll-l10n, jekyll-minify, and jekyll-link-decorator gem-based plugins. Jekyll themes cannot distribute plugins as we distribute includes and layouts. Plugins need to be defined as gem-based dependencies.
jekyll-l10n jekyll-minify jekyll-link-decorator The jekyll-l10n plugin deprecates jekyll-site-l10n script.
-
On Motif: Remove gradient from CentOS Stream 11 proposed artistic motif. Perform color correction to improve alignment with CentOS colors palette. Test proposed artistic motif on gnome background. Update centos-logos c11 branch with these changes.
